Coe Vintners
Coe Vintners is a family run business since 1930 and the UK’s leading Wine and Spirits Merchants. In the 79 years since its establishment Coe Vintners has built up one of the most extensive product ranges in the country. This includes spirits and liqueurs from Mezcal to Rousillon Pastilles, still and sparkling wines from Brazilian Pinot Grigio to Alicante Bouchet from Portugal. They also store one of the country’s largest holdings of Fine Wines, from Château Cheval Blanc 1961 to magnums of 1988 Riesling Herrenweg de Turkheim from Domaine Zind Humbrecht from Alsace.
Coe Vintners was established in 1930 by the grandfather of the current Managing Director, John Coe, on the very same East London site on which it remains today. From an original sales force of one (himself), Coe’s has grown to become an important employer with over 130 people working in the team, including a sales force of 30.
The wine department is the fastest growing part of Coe’s business. South America’s first, and Brazil’s only, male Master of Wine, Dirceu Vianna Junior MW, heads up the buying department as Coe Vintner’s Wine Development Director. In the words of MD John Coe: “Junior is a walking wine encyclopaedia with a gift for choosing wines that really stand out for their depth of flavour and high quality to price ratio. We don’t have any big wine brands on our books but prefer to work mostly with wines from family companies with a similar ethos to that at Coe’s, having a great passion for what they do.”
Add to this Coe’s impressive list of diverse and eclectic spirits which have been supplying cutting edge cocktail bars since the 1980’s and you have the complete package.
The combined turnover of the “Coe group of companies” is now well in excess of £60 million.
