Esk Valley Estate - New Zealand

Esk Valley is a small, boutique winery nestled in the hills of Hawke’s Bay, just north of Napier. Winemaker, Gordon Russell, specialises in producing handcrafted, premium wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Pinot Noir grape varieties. The same care is taken in producing elegant white wines from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Verdelho and Chenin Blanc grape varieties.

To enable the making of Esk's premium red wines from individual vineyard areas, and to facilitate hand plunging of the grape skins day and night, small open vats are used for fermentation. This painstaking, traditional method achieves wines of great colour, flavour and softness.

To guarantee the quality of all his wines, winemaker Gordon Russell seals with Screwcap closures to protect the wines and ensure that every single bottle will be in perfect condition when opened.

The Esk Valley Black Label and Reserve wines, as well as the renowned ‘The Terraces’ red wine, (previously described as "probably the best red wine from New Zealand") are available from selected Independent retailers and are priced between £7 and £80 per bottle.
